MHS Drama: The Breakfast Club
Written by Marco Walther
Sunday, 04 January 2009

thumb_dcs_0064.jpgShortly before the Winter Break, the High School Drama team presented a play based on the film "The Breakfast Club" from the mid-eighties. We saw the performance on Friday, 12/12 and were again impressed.

The Tracy Press had a little article about that as well.

Below are some pictures to give you an impression on what the HS students are capable of. As always, you can click on an image to see a bigger version.

A Great Fall Carnival
Written by Marco Walther
Thursday, 13 November 2008

thumb_dcs_0149_640.jpgWe had a great fall carnival two weeks ago. I think everybody really enjoyed it. I took some pictures but I'm currently really busy with enough work for three. That's why I did not get to write anything about the carnival here:-(

At least here are now some pictures to give you an impression.

As always, you can click on the images to see a bigger version. I have even more pictures at walther-family.org.

MHS Production - You Can't Take It with You
Written by Marco Walther
Sunday, 04 May 2008

thumb_d_0044.jpgI hope, you did not miss the second production of the MHS drama class. "You Can't Take It with You" was a really great performance again. Some photos are below. I had to work a bit on them because Mr. Snyder asked not to use a flash. But I think they still give a bit of an impression what you can do in very tight spaces.

I don't know how widely publicized that is, but Mr. Snyder did record both performances, and has DVD's on sale. The proceeds will go towards the drama classes.

Thanks everybody for a great evening.

Our B&N Book Fair
Written by Marco Walther
Sunday, 04 May 2008

thumb_bf_0029.jpgUnfortunately, I'm currently a bit busy at work and the Tracy Tritons did start their season as well. But I wanted at least to share some pictures of our B&N book fair before too much other stuff comes up.

When I looked at the kids (and the parents), I think most where happy and enjoyed the evening at Banes & Noble and The Hometown Buffet.  I don't have any results yet, but I'm also not too much worried about the fund-raising. I think, it's much better when everybody can have fun.

Thanks to all the parents, the high school students and the teachers who helped to make this a great evening.

Some more pictures are below:

Science Olympiad 5./6. Grade
Written by Marco Walther
Thursday, 01 May 2008
thumb_so_0032_1.jpg

I'm a little bit behind, but here are some impressions from the San Joaquin County Science Olympiad for 5th and 6th graders. It was already held on April 5th.

DCS sent two teams (gold and maroon) which would then build little sub-teams  to compete in the different events. Overall I think, there were five schools from Tracy, with the Jefferson School District  sending teams from three schools.

There was a similar  event for the 7th/8th graders a couple of weeks earlier. We don't have any kids in that age range yet and nobody else provided me with some info, so I can't say anything about it. But the Tracy Press had an article related to the state wide Olympiad a couple of days ago. It can be viewed here: A science experience
